2020 Head of Charles Regatta Cancelled

The 2020 Head of the Charles Regatta, scheduled for Columbus Day weekend on the Charles River in Boston, will not be held due to concerns over the spread of Covid-19. The prestigious international rowing event has been held since 1965, and was last cancelled in 1996.

The two-day regatta typically attracts 11,000 rowers who compete in more than 70 races. Spectators generally number in the hundreds of thousands, and the event produces an estimated economic impact of more than $75 million for Massachusetts.
