3 Rescued After Boat Grounds in Merrimack River

Coast Guard and local fire department crews rescued 3 people Friday morning after their vessel ran aground at the mouth of the Merrimack River in Newburyport.

At around 7:30 a.m. Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector Boston received notification that the 32’ pleasure craft Warthog ran aground and 2 of the 3 people aboard sustained lacerations, and possible fractures.

A 29’ rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Merrimack River launched and recovered all 3 people and brought them back to the station where local emergency medical services were waiting.

Medical personnel transported the injured to a local hospital for further care.
