CapeCodOnline: The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan rescued three people Saturday after the trio’s boat capsized in heavy surf on the dangerous shallows off Chatham’s coast.

Two of the stricken mariners were taken to Cape Cod Hospital after the rescue, which began at about 7:30 a.m. One victim suffered a knee injury and the other may have swallowed fuel, said Petty Officer 3rd Class Sherman Baldwin, who was involved in the rescue mission.
