Seacoast Online reports that some 40,000 young oysters were planted in New Hampshire’s Great Bay near Nanny’s Island by a group of about 30 volunteers and conservation workers.

The event was coordinated by the University of New Hampshire and The Nature Conservatory, which launched a program in 2009 to retire the bay’s depleted oyster population.
