6 Saved from Sinking Vessel in Cape Cod Canal

Six people were rescued after their 24-foot bowrider took on water while transiting Hog Island Channel in the west entrance of the Cape Cod Canal on Sunday, September 22.

One person was washed overboard when the boat, named No-Prop-Lem, took a wave over the bow, but managed to stay afloat with the help of a fellow passenger who jumped into the water. Assisting in the rescue were members of the Wareham Harbormasters Dept. and the Onset Fire Dept.

All six people were transported to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where Emergency Medical Services and Fire Department personnel were waiting. No injuries were reported, and the boat was towed to a marina.
