Annual Block Island Dredging Project Proceeding
June 6, 2012
Block Island Times: “It’s all about maintenance,” explains Mike Walsh, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New England manager for dredging projects occurring in Block Island’s Old and New harbors this month.
Walsh observes from the bridge of the dredge Currituck, the Corps’ 150’ workhorse of a ship that travels up and down the eastern seaboard. It is responsible for helping keep harbors and channels along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts open for business.
