Jamestown Press: The Rhode Island Council for the Humanities has awarded grants to the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association and the Jamestown Historical Society.

The Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association was awarded a $2,000 grant to update the deteriorated signage and create new, descriptive signage for 6 significant features on the site of the Beavertail Light Station and Narragansett Bay overlook. Each sign will provide historical information and a brief explanation of each feature.

The Jamestown Historical Society was awarded a $1,700 grant to create 2 signs for the site of the 18th century Jamestown windmill. One sign will explain the building’s history and the second will depict the internal workings of the windmill. The creation of these signs will improve accessibility to the inside story of the windmill, which is not currently handicap accessible.
