Beverly Harbor Pipeline Project to Affect Boaters


[dropcap]A[/dropcap]ccording to the Salem News, boating traffic in Beverly Harbor, MA, will be disrupted this summer as Spectra Energy installs an underground gas pipeline running 1.2 miles under Beverly Harbor, Collins Cove in Salem and then under land to connect to the new Salem power plant.

Construction is expected to start in July and run through the end of the year. Because of the project, some 50 recreational mooring holders have been displaced in Beverly and Salem.

Salem and Beverly Both harbormasters have been working with the Coast Guard and Spectra to develop a boating safety plan during construction. Marine patrol units will be active through the summer to make sure the flow of traffic around the project site remains seamless, according to the Salem harbormasters department.
