Bird Island is a 4-acre island in Upper Buzzards Bay, approximately one-half mile off the coast of Sippican Point and 3 miles from the Marion town wharf. It serves as an important nesting site for roseate and common terns, and is home to a historic lighthouse.

The project involves barging in approximately 13,000 tons of armor stone to the island for the repair of approximately 1,000 linear feet of revetment. Approximately 5,000 cubic yards of gravel will also be imported as fill for the island’s interior.
