Salem News reports that a recreational fisherman died of an apparent heart attack while returning to port during the fast-moving storm experienced by much of New England on Thursday, June 9.
The Coast Guard relayed an emergency message around 5:30 p.m., during the height of the storm, after receiving a cell phone call for help from another man on the boat, according to the Salem harbormaster’s office.
The boat was eventually located in thick fog by the Beverly and Salem harbormasters, who attempted to revive the man using a defibrillator.
