Body of Missing Maine Shellfisherman Located

The body of 62-year-old Delbert Caler, a shellfisherman from Harrington, ME, was discovered on the morning of February 15 by a local fisherman working with Maine Marine Patrol after he was reported missing earlier in the day.

Marine Patrol received a report at approximately 6:00 a.m. that Caler, a licensed shellfish harvester, was missing after he had gone clamming the previous evening.

The search, coordinated by the Maine Marine Patrol, began immediately and involved many locals searching on the water and shore, as well as members of the Maine Warden Service.

Caler’s body was found at approximately 9:00 a.m. in the water a half-mile from Lower Wass Cove on the Pleasant River where, earlier in the morning, clamming gear believed to be Caler’s was located.
