Body Recovered from Taunton Bay, ME
July 1, 2015
At approximately 5:40 p.m. on June 30, the Maine Marine Patrol recovered the body of a deceased male discovered in upper Taunton Bay by a local lobsterman. The location is north of the Hancock Sullivan Bridge near Butler Point.
The lobsterman detected the body entangled in kelp floating at the water’s surface wrapped around the fisherman’s lobster buoy.
Identification found on the individual suggests the victim’s identity to be Matthew LaForest, 28 of Ellsworth. LaForest was reported missing Friday, June 19 and was last seen near Taunton Bay. However, the body has been transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta this morning for an autopsy and to confirm identification.
The Marine Patrol has searched the same area over the last week and half by water and air. His vehicle was found parked at a scenic turnout in Hancock near the Hancock-Sullivan Bridge.
