Expansion of the town-owned marina in Bristol, RI, was recently approved. The expanded marina will have space for additional 89 vessels, for a total of 126, as well as a variance for parking.

The project will create a dock basin south of the existing pier and Maritime Center with wave-attenuating floats. A fuel dock will also be installed at State Street Pier, north of the docks.

The expanded marina will feature both resident and transient slips, as well as dockage for the Providence-to-Newport Ferry in summer and small cruise vessels. Space for commercial fishing boats will also be available.

Currently, the town is waiting for the Army Corps of Engineers permit before the project goes out to bid.
