Cape Cod Canal & Bay Report: 10.10.12
October 12, 2012
Jeff Miller at Canal Bait & Tackle has this report for the Cape Cod Canal and Cape Cod Bay:
This afternoon/evening, the big bass showed up in the Cape Cod Canal—no doubt due to the overcast skies and northeast wind. The mackerel are right in front of the East End. Also, 8”-12″ squid are in the Canal every morning.
See below for the lures that best imitate a mackerel.
- Sebile Lures Magic Swimmer 8″ 3oz Fast Sink (Light Violet)
- Rapala X-RAP 6″ 1 1/2oz (Blue Mackerel)
- Savage Gear Lures
- Sebile Lures Stick Shadd 7″ 4 3/8oz Sinking (White Perch)
- Zing Tackle Fluorocarbon Leaders 50lb 30″ 2pk
Cape Cod Bay has mackerel at the East End of the Canal. Live-lining mackerel and trolling tube-and-worm combos are the most effective ways to fish this area.
Town Neck to Scorton Ledge is loaded with big bass too, Tube-and-worm trolling and fishing live eels are the most effective methods in this area. The most effective tube in the past few days has been the Zing 4 oz. tube in black.
