Cape Cod Sherriff’s Boat Will Detect Radioactive Materials

The Barnstable County [MA] Sheriff’s Office has received a $445,965 grant from the Department of Homeland Security to buy a 31’ rigid-hulled inflatable boat with radiological-detection capabilities and to train staff members to operate it, according to the Cape Cod Times.

The boat will be the only vessel between Boston and Providence capable of detecting radioactive material.
