Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Suspected in Lake Winnipesaukee Incident

An 8-month-old baby and a 2-year-old child were brought to a hospital Saturday afternoon [July 21] after authorities suspect they were poisoned by carbon monoxide while aboard a 35’ inboard vessel.

The NH Marine Patrol responded to the Alton town docks on Lake Winnipesaukee after receiving a report of an unresponsive baby onboard a boat.

By the time Marine Patrol arrived on scene, the baby was responsive and crying.

The baby and a second child found crying aboard the vessel were taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Both were treated and released.

No information was given as to whether the boat was equipped with a carbon monoxide detector.
