Chatham Beaches Closed Due to Shark Activity

WCVB: The Town of Chatham is closing several east-facing ocean beaches from the Orleans/Chatham line south along Nauset Beach to Monomoy until further notice, due to the recent reports of great white shark activity by local fisherman.

Dan Tobin, the Director of Parks & Recreation, said the Town of Chatham has received numerous reports of increased white shark activity in the vicinity of Chatham’s eastern, ocean facing beaches.

The reports included a video posted on YouTube of a shark attacking a seal in the area of the South Tip of Monomoy.
