Middletown Press: The town of Clinton, CT, has launched a new Water Pollution Control Commission Public Involvement Program, part of a comprehensive solution to wastewater pollution in the area’s groundwater and Long Island Sound.

In the 1990s, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the town of Clinton entered into a consent order mandating that the town address pollution from private septic systems. The WPCC and its engineering consultant are preparing to implement a state-approvable solution to this problem.

The first phase of the Public Involvement Program will involve workshops that will focus on the concerns and possible solutions for each neighborhood. Clinton residents are urged to participate.
