Boater Suffers Heart Attack off Montauk

Coast Guard Medivacs Heart Attack Victim from Boat Off Montauk, Long Island, New York.

The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 60-year-old man today [August  28] from a vessel less than one mile off Montauk Inlet, New York.

A crewmember aboard the recreational vessel Next Move contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound at approximately 9:30 a.m. reporting that a man aboard had suffered a heart attack and was in need of assistance.

Coast Guard Station Montauk arrived on scene and transferred one crewmember aboard the vessel to assess the man, who administered a shock with an Automated External Defibrillator. Once moored at Station Montauk, the Coast Guard crewmembers transferred the man to an Emergency Medical Service, which took him to a local hospital. No word was given on the victim’s condition.
