Coast Guard Performs 2 Medevacs on Sunday

In separate incidents the Coast Guard evacuated 2 people from boats off Cape Cod on Sunday. The first incident involved a 38-year-old fisherman who was airlifted from the fishing boat Nobska some 50 miles east of Chatham early Sunday morning after he began experiencing respiratory problems. The Coast Guard launched a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter at 1:40 a.m. and evacuated the man from the vessel at around 2:30 a.m., according to the release.

Later on Sunday, at 9:00 a.m., a 49-year-old-female suffering possible internal injuries was evacuated from the cruise ship Norwegian Gem some 56 miles south of Nantucket.

An Air Station Cape Cod Jayhawk helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 11:00 a.m and hoisted the woman from the deck of the vessel then brought her to Barnstable Municipal Airport.
