CapeCodOnline: Summer is coming to a close, but there is plenty of good boating weather to come, and Coast Guard officials want kayakers and other paddlers to be smart about it.

Paddle Smart StickerFour years ago, the U.S. Coast Guard launched Operation Paddle Smart in the hopes of teaching paddle enthusiasts about safe practices but also to get them to put waterproof labels on their kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and rowboats, said Capt. David Throop, commander at Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod.
