The U.S. Coast Guard Station Point Judith towed a 38’ sailboat that lost the use of its sails and engine to Galilee, Rhode Island the night of Sunday, October 9, 2016.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Kevin Grant said the call came by phone at 8 p.m. reporting a disabled sailboat in Block Island Sound about 6 miles south of Point Judith Light. The boat was from Greenwich, Connecticut, and had two people on board.

Grant said the sailboat, pushed by 25-knot northwest winds gusting to 45 knots, drifted 3 miles in a half hour.
