EastBayRI: The annual International Coastal Cleanup brought a crowd of workers to Barrington Beach last weekend. More than 50 people participated including Boy Scouts from Troop 55 in Riverside.

Among the trash found, bagged and tallied were tires on rims, pieces of lumber, and more than 700 food and candy wrappers. Volunteers also discovered, recorded and removed 600 straws and 700 caps and lids; these items could have posed a danger to wildlife. There were also more than 200 food serving items found, including plates and cups, and about 150 beverage bottles.
