Cohasset, MA, Gets Its Own Lobster Trap Tree
December 16, 2013
Patriot Ledger: It doesn’t take a seasoned fisherman to see the beauty in a 25’-tall tree-shaped tower made of more than 400 lobster traps and decorated with colorful buoys and hundreds of white lights.
The effort to build Cohasset’s own lobster-trap tree for the holidays was spearheaded by town resident John Covell. He started planning the endeavor last year after hearing about such a tree in Hull.
“I absolutely love Cohasset,” Covell said. “You couldn’t blast me out of here, and I wanted to do something to engage the whole community, and when I saw this tree idea, I said, ‘What’s better than this for us?’”
