CT Group Seeks Sheepaug River Volunteers

Litchfield County Times: If you want to help assess tributary shoreline conditions in the Shepaug River watershed this summer, contact the Housatonic Valley Association (HVA) to join its newest ‘citizen science’ volunteer program—the 2011 Shepaug River Streamwalk pilot program.
The pilot program is organized in collaboration with HVA’s partners in the Health Monitoring Committee of the Shepaug River Association (SRA)—the Roxbury Conservation Commission, Washington Environmental Council, and the Steep Rock Association.
Over the past ten years HVA’s volunteer Stream Teams have helped survey the Housatonic River main stem from Pittsfield to Long Island Sound by walking, wading or paddling short segments. Now HVA is recruiting volunteers to survey one of the river’s largest tributaries—the Shepaug River basin.
