CT Lacks Plan for Protecting Long Island Sound

The Day: If Connecticut were to receive another proposal for a long pipeline across Long Island Sound, as it did in the early 2000s, it still wouldn’t be able to respond quickly or strategically because it doesn’t have a full inventory of resources and uses of the Sound or a preservation plan.

Rhode Island and Massachusetts have each passed legislation to create an “ocean plan,” but Connecticut’s legislature failed to pass similar legislation this year.
