CT Lowers Boat Sales Tax

A Connecticut bill that lowers the tax on boats from 6.35% to 2.99% was signed into law by Governor Dannel P. Malloy on May 15. The move is being hailed by local boat dealers, who claim to have lost sales to other states, such as Rhode Island, which has no sales tax on boats.

The bipartisan bill came out of the Senate with a unanimous vote and received overwhelming support by the House.

The law will take effect July 1.
