CT Shellfisherman May Sue Town Over Spill
November 17, 2011
GreenwhichTime: A Cos Cob-based businessman is pondering suing the town [of Greenwich, Connecticut] after a 50,000-gallon sewage spill left his aquaculture business drydocked.
Jardar Nygaard, owner of Fjord Fisheries and operator of an oyster aquaculture business in the waters of Greenwich Cove, said a sewage backup in Old Greenwich means he cannot harvest any of his oysters for at least 10 days.
“There is nowhere for us to go to be made whole for our losses,” Nygaard said. “We suffer economically for this negligence.”
