CT’s Black Rock Yacht Club Out of Commission

The following notice was posted on the Black Rock Yacht Club’s website. The club is located in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

“Despite very thorough storm preparation in advance of the storm, Black Rock Yacht Club’s facilities suffered considerable damage during Hurricane Irene on August 28, 2011. The dock suffered major damage and the restaurant and main clubhouse are out of commission due to water damage. Inspection of the clubhouse will be completed shortly by professional engineers to determine the safety of the building. The ballroom and dining porch were flooded and the floor structure beneath the ball room was lifted up by wave action. The Flag Officers are in touch with our insurance providers and will be providing a status update shortly.

“As required by the City of Bridgeport, the Club property is off limits to both members and non-members at the present time. Do not come to the club, as you will be turned away from the property.

“Launch service will need to be run to and from an alternate location (either FYC or Captains Cove) and once those plans are finalized an announcement will be sent out.”
