Debris Interfering with New Bedford Channel Dredging

SouthCoastToday.com: A scallop dredge and a spool of steel cable were illegally dumped into the federal channel during the past 2 weeks on the approach to New Bedford Harbor, according to Ed Anthes-Washburn, deputy port director for the Harbor Development Commission.
Obstructions such as that, unless removed at public expense, pose a navigational hazard that could cause the Army Corps of Engineers to declare a shallower channel depth than is the target of the current dredging project, Washburn said.
