Disabled Fishing Boat Towed to Point Judith

The Providence Journal reports that the Coast Guard and a Good Samaritan boat assisted in the rescue of the crew of disabled fishing boat about 31 miles south of Block Island on Wednesday [Feb. 10].
The 50’ Lois Virginia issued a mayday call after becoming disabled at around 6:45 p.m. The crew of the nearby fishing vessel Sao Paulo overheard the transmission and offered to tow the disabled vessel to Point Judith Harbor.
A Coast Guard response boat out of Point Judith took over the tow when the boats neared Block Island. No injuries were reported.
