Many boaters are overwhelmed by Newport, given the super-crowded harbor and its abundance of huge yachts. With every inch of dock space seemingly occupied by gleaming fiberglass and varnished wood, tying up to grab a simple bite to eat seems next to impossible.
A Panini at Belle’s
Fortunately, there’s a solution at the Newport Shipyard, where we found a delightful breakfast and lunch nook called Belle’s Café. Boaters can pull up next to Belle’s to enjoy delicious breakfast burritos, omelets, pancakes, French toast, sandwiches, lobster rolls, salads, coffee and other drinks. The chefs here also make some mighty mean paninis, burgers, and creative wraps, as well as tasty sides. There are kid’s meals, too. Eat inside or outdoors under the covered tables overlooking the beautiful boats. Prices are reasonable (especially for Newport) and range from $5 to $17.
