Dock Talk Tip: Rigging a Soft-Plastic on a Jighead
February 1, 2012
A soft-plastic bait tail rigged on a jighead is one of the most effective lures for catching striped bass, sea bass, fluke and other bottom fish in New England. The lifelike action and profile of the soft-plastic tail imitate a variety of prey items, and the jighead lets you get it down to where the fish are holding.
In the accompanying video, Jeff Miller of Canal Bait and Tackle in Sagamore, Massachusetts, discusses the proper way to rig a large Slug-Go on a heavy jighead for fishing deep-water structure. While Miller uses a Slug-Go in the demonstration, the technique applies to any long, soft-plastic tail, such as the Fin-S-Fish, Zoom Fluke, Hogy or RonZ.
