Edgartown Asst. Harbormaster Seriously Injured in Accident

According to the Martha’s Vineyard Times, Edgartown, MA, deputy harbormaster Michael Hathaway sustained serious injuries when a boat fell on him Monday morning, March 12, while it was being lifted off a trailer by a front-end loader. Hathaway was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital with a broken leg, a broken back, and multiple other broken bones, according to harbormaster Charlie Blair.

According to Blair, the boat’s bow cleat tore free as the boat was being moved, falling onto Hathaway.
