Entangled Fin Whale Freed East of Boston

The Salem News reports that a nearly 60’-long fin whale that was entangled in fishing gear was freed by rescue crews from the Center for Coastal Studies on Wednesday, June 22. The whale was spotted by a pilot just east of Boston, who then led rescuers to its position.
A grappling hook was used to cut through the lines when the whale dove.
