Entangled Humpback Whale Rescued off Boston

Cape Cod Times: A team from the Center for Coastal Studies freed a young humpback whale from entanglement Sunday morning [Dec. 11] off Boston, the Provincetown-based organization said in a statement.

A commercial fisherman in the area discovered the whale Thursday, but conditions were too poor for the center’s Marine Animal Entanglement Response team to respond that day.

The roughly 30’ humpback had rope wrapped around the base of its tail that was attached to fishing gear at the sea floor, according to the statement.
