Seacoast Online: Biologists have come to the aid of 3 loons tangled in plastic fishing line. Two of the loons have survived. One, which was found in a cove in late August, had fishing line around its bill and tongue. Staff with the Lake Sunapee Protective Association untangled and released the emaciated bird, but it later died.

One of the surviving loons, which had ingested a fishing hook, was released last week after spending 2 weeks with wildlife rehabilitators in Maine.
