Entrants Sought for Rockland, ME, Schooner Contest

The Bangor Daily News reports that the captain of the 99’ schooner Isaac H. Evans of Rockland, Maine, is holding a contest that would ultimately transfer ownership of the vessel. Entrants have to submit $125 and an essay of at least 200 words on why they would want to own the schooner.

Capt. Brenda Thomas is looking for up to 8,000 entries at $125 each, which would raise up to $1 million. The deadline for submissions is October 31, but that date could be extended.

Thomas will read each essay then submit her favorite 20 to an independent panel of 2 people.

Details of the contest are available at Win the Maine Windjammer Isaac H. Evans.
