Residents around the Gulf of Maine are being asked to participate in the first regional King Tides Photo Contest by taking images of the extreme high tide that will occur at midday on October 9, 2014.

The goal of the contest, sponsored in part by the Gulf of Maine Council Climate Network, is to raise awareness of sea-level rise and to gain an understanding of what the coast might look like given the recent trend in rising sea levels.

Photo Contest Prizes

The Grand Prize winner will receive a waterproof digital camera, the Fujifilm FinePix XP170, donated by Photo Market of Portland, Maine. The 2 runners-up winners will receive clothing items donated by Patagonia.
