Event of the Week: 2014 Boston Harborfest Guide and Festival
June 30, 2014
The Boston Harborfest 2014 Fourth of July Festival, which showcases the colonial and maritime heritage of the cradle of the American Revolution. The award-winning festival, held from July 2 to July 6, honors the past, celebrates the present, and educates the future with reenactments, concerts, historical tours and more.
Daily Events during the Festival are concentrated in Boston’s historic downtown and waterfront districts, and boaters have a front-row seat to much of the action, including the USS Constitution Turnaround in the Harbor on July 4. There will also be various Tall Ships and military vessels in the harbor. And of course, boaters can enjoy the famous fireworks display from the harbor or by venturing into the Charles River.

Grab a public mooring in the Harbor Islands, or a slip at Spectacle Island Marina. You can also drop the hook in many places in and around the islands or inside the Charles (get there early to claim a prime spot).
Over the years, Harborfest has grown from a local event to a national celebration. In 1982 there were 35 activities over the course of three days. Now in its 33rd year, Harborfest is considered to be the largest patriotic celebration in the nation with visitors enjoying more than 200 activities during the Festival.
