Event of the Week: 35th Annual Gloucester Schooner Festival

Gloucester, Massachusetts, will host the 35th annual Gloucester Schooner Festival this Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30-Sept. 2. The maritime and sailing extravaganza is organized by the Gloucester Schooner Festival Committee and Maritime Gloucester.

The Schooner Festival honors the major role played by fishing schooners in the heritage of Gloucester and the eastern seaboard. As part of the festival, a variety of schooners will visit Gloucester Harbor during the three-day event.

Highlights include:

  • Tours of the Coast Guard training Tall Ship Eagle
  • Public lobster bake
  • Fireworks (Saturday night)
  • Parade of Sail (Sunday morning)
  • Mayor’s schooner race
