Event of the Week: 2014 Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race

The annual Fall Haul and Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race, held by Lowell’s Boat Shop and Museum in Amesbury, MA, will be held Sunday, October 26, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The race is open to the general public and features rowing and paddling boats of all kinds, including dories, skiffs, wherries, peapods, canoes, kayaks, and other similar boat types.

Race course

The race course is a 3.5-mile course with the start and finish lines in front of Lowell’s Boat Shop. The course will be fully charted and explained to all participants.

Pre-registration ($25 per participant) is recommended. Registration on the day of the event ($30 per participant, $10 p/p for Youth under 18) will take place from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Amesbury Town Landing. Official participants will receive a commemorative hat or tee shirt. A pre-race meeting is set for 11:30, with the actual race to begin at noon.

All rowers, LBS members and friends are cordially invited to partake of food, drink and live music at the Boat Shop during the race and awards ceremony.
