If you’ve ever boated past West Island at the mouth of the Sakonnet River in Rhode Island, you might have noticed 3 stone pillars standing in a field of weeds.

Believe it or not, these are the remains of an elite fishing club that existed on the small island from 1864 to 1906.

You can learn more about this fascinating island and its history by watching the accompanying video and reading the article. You might even want to visit it yourself.
