Fall Tautog Tips

Tautog, or blackfish as they’re called in parts of Rhode Island and Connecticut, are hard-fighting, great-tasting bottom fish, and fall is prime time to find them over inshore wrecks, rocks and other types of structure.
In the accompanying video, shot in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, on October 31, 2011, New England Boating publisher Tom Richardson walks you through some of the steps needed to score with fall-run ‘tog. Follow his advice and you might just want to extend your fishing season!
