CapeCodOnline.com: The Deepsea Challenger, which made history by taking a solo explorer to the deepest point on the ocean floor in 2012, is on the road again — this time to a film premiere in New York City.

The one-man submarine, technically known as a human-occupied vehicle, was used by Academy Award-winning movie director James Cameron for his dive to the bottom of the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, almost 12,100 yards under water.

Cameron donated the sub to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in 2013.
