Fishery Cuts Will Trigger Industry Collapse, Say Fishermen

CapeCodOnline: New England’s fishing regulators on Wednesday [January 30] approved steep cuts in Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank cod catch limits that fishermen say will trigger the collapse of the industry.
The mood was grim at the New England Fishery Management Council meeting, prior to the vote on sharp reductions in groundfish quotas that could cripple—and will almost certainly hurt—the industry.
