Flare Sparks Search in Buzzards Bay

Coast Guard and local officials launched a search on Wednesday, Nov. 25, after multiple residents reported seeing a distress flare in the area of Wings Neck, near the western entrance of the Cape Cod Canal, according to the Cape Cod Times.
The search began at around 9:00 p.m., and involved firefighters and police officers from Bourne and Falmouth, the Wareham harbormaster and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The Coast Guard launched a helicopter and a small boat, but suspended their search at around 1:30 a.m.
The Coast Guard resumed its search with a helicopter on Thursday morning, but did not find anything suspicious. No boats or mariners have been reported missing.
