Fuel Oil Barge Goes Adrift off Nantucket

ADRIFT

The U.S. Coast Guard issued an advisory to mariners on Tuesday, April 5, that a 400’ tanker barge carrying fuel oil had gone adrift some 45 miles southeast of Nantucket. The tug Dolphin lost its tow when the shackle and chain pendant broke around 7:00 a.m. The barge was out of the shipping lane and did not pose a hazard to navigation.
