Future Cloudy for Norwalk’s Manresa Island
December 4, 2013
TheHour.com: NRG Energy, Inc., will complete the shutdown of its Norwalk Harbor Generating Station at Manresa Island by year’s end, but the company says it hasn’t decided what to do with the property.
“We don’t have any specific plans for redevelopment of the property right now,” said David Gaier, NRG Energy spokesman. “We have not yet determined what we’re going to do with the site. We will update the community as plans start to gel.”
In May, the New Jersey-based energy company announced that it would deactivate the oil-burning plant the following month due to lack of profitability.
