Gloucester Fishing Advocate Receives Award
October 7, 2013
Angela Sanfilippo, the president of the Gloucester [Massachusetts] Fishermen’s Wives Association and a tireless advocate for fishermen and the fishing industry, was surprised to discover on Sunday (September 29, 2013) that she was a recipient of one of the fishing industry’s top honors.
According to an article in the Gloucester Times, Sanfilippo was attending the Working Waterfront Festival in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was standing next to Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley aboard the state’s official vessel, the schooner Ernestina, when the announcement was made for this year’s recipients for the prestigious Offshore Mariners’ Wives Friend of the Fishing Industry Award. Sanfilippo was one of two recipients.
